Perfect timing, I just got my first Mac today!

What is this? Retro post 1999 year in review?

As a Mac user, I thank you :)

There is no way that SnapNDrag compares at all to Skitch. The rest of the list is suspect if you recommend that over Sktich.

Pretty lame list. Caffeine is the only one that belongs here. Where are the *real* apps that people actually use on a daily basis?

Incidentally, the screenshot for the Unarchiver is incorrect. The app shown there is cyberduck – not Unarchiver!

I didn’t really rate MacLock, I don’t see what advantage it has over adding the users icon to your menu bar and merely switching to the “Switch Users” login screen to lock your mac. Or merely setting up hot corners to activate the screen saver and requiring pw after screensaver ?

You dont need to download a screen shot taking app, just press Apple, Shift, 4 and click and hold to size and shap your screenshot…. which saves right to the desktop

I can perform a lot of these tasks with functionality that is already built into OS X.

you people need to calm down and step away from the computer for a bit! Everyone has their own list and while I may not agree with most of them I often find a gem or two I wasn’t aware of. Chill out!

i think mac os x apps its really good, but i still using windows

The top of the list should have been Evernote. It is the most useful program/concept I’ve seen in a long time. It allows you to clip parts or all of a web page, use iSight to take a photo note, and many other ways to be your “electronic brain”. And if you have an iPhone, it is even more useful!

Thanks for the info. Althogh some of them seem redundant to what we already have on Mac, I’m definitely gonna give a few of them a try.

Caffeine:

Haven’t used it yet but suspect that it will be PERFECT for watching movies on Netflix or Hulu and not having to tap the pad every 5 min!!
