Social Media Websites

NutShellMail Simplifies Your Online Social Life By Delivering You All In One Email Alerts

I remember when my friends and I used only Orkut for social networking. Now many users have migrated over to other networks or use more than one social networking site. Of these multiple-networking-site users, most people have an account on Facebook and Twitter. These networks are very different from each other; simultaneously managing a Facebook and Twitter account by checking our notifications on each is quite time consuming and adversely affects our productivity.

Particularly people whose work requires heavy usage of their computers (like me) find it difficult to manage all their social networks in the minimum possible time. Thankfully services like NutshellMail are there to makes things easier for us.

nutshellmail

NutshellMail is a free website and one of many website that aim to merge our social media accounts. In addition to Twitter and Facebook, the site supports LinkedIn and MySpace.

nutshellmail1

To start using NutshellMail we first need to create an account using the link located at the top right of the site’s homepage. Alternatively we can connect with our Facebook / Twitter accounts to sign in.

nutshellmail2

While setting up our NutshellMail account and adding our networks to it, we can specify which kind of updates do we want to see.

nutshellmail4

nutshellmail3

The feature of NutshellMail that appealed to me most was its support of multiple accounts of the same service. For Twitter users this will be very beneficial; users can add two Twitter accounts to their NutshellMail account and get the feeds from both. Updates from our secondary accounts can be forwarded to our primary account of a particular supported service*. This way all we need to do is check the notifications of our primary accounts. (*For Twitter, delivery times of messages and the type of messages to be forwarded can be customized.)

In conclusion, NutshellMail is a wonderful service that makes it easier to manage our social media accounts even if we have more than one account per service. Click here to visit the site and start using it.

Aggregating and Sharing Web Links Made Easy With BagTheWeb

We can find content online on any subject; the internet has everything we are looking for. The information is usually distributed over a number of sources.

Suppose we want to view all of Coldplay’s videos; there is no single URL that will have all the videos; we will need to visit multiple URLs. To share the videos, we will need to share all those URLs. The same can be applied to any other thing we are looking for – we will need to visit multiple URLs.

After finding the URLs we are looking for, what if there was a way to store them in a ‘bag’ and label the bag accordingly? Say we store all those video URLs in a virtual bag and label the bag “Coldplay’s Videos.” The next time we need to view or share those videos, all we need to do is share the bag instead of the individual URLs.

BagTheWeb does exactly that.

bagtheweb

BagTheWeb is a free to use website that lets users create virtual bags and store URLs in it. More than simply storing the address of the webpages we add, the site lets our bag actually use those URLs. In the abovementioned example, our videos bag will actually be an online video playlist. Depending on the nature of the URLs we add, we can aggregate online profiles, share expertise, recommend stuff, build a trip guide, promote a cause, prepare a discussion, organize a meeting, capture an event, or connect a community.

bagtheweb1

We start BagTheWeb by creating a free account.

Setting up our profile is optional. We can leave the profile details fields empty and skip to creating our bag.

bagtheweb2

After adding URLs to our bag and choosing how those URLs will be used, we can publish the bag to be findable to any internet user. We can also share our bags on our social networking accounts.

bagtheweb3

BagTheWeb is a wonderful idea and a unique way to share online content. I predict this site will become very popular very soon.

MashPedia The Real-time Encyclopedia Searches Many Online Sources In One Go

The sources in most online encyclopedias are static. Take Wikipedia for example. User submitted articles on Wikipedia have fixed sources for their articles. A change in the source therefore can present a problem for that particular article.

Suppose there was an encyclopedia with the latest sources accompanying its article on a subject. Not only will that be a great help to the encyclopedia’s user, but it would make the article more reliable as well.

Realizing the usefulness of such a search engine / encyclopedia and how beneficial it can be to internet users, Mashpedia was created.

mashpedia

Mashpedia is a free to use online encyclopedia that updates and gathers the results of our query in real time. The advantage of this is that we get new / different results each time we execute a search, even if our keywords are the same.

In addition to news and trending topics, the site has a simple search bar located at its homepage.

mashpedia1

Entering our keyword in the search bar and starting our search quickly shows us gathered results from a variety of sources including social media sites and video hosting sites, in addition to standard search engine results.

mashpedia2

In the above image, I executed a search for ‘electrons’ and came up with the Mashpedia article on it. The pane on the right details the properties of an electron whereas the pane on the left show us YouTube and social media sources for the keyword ‘electrons’; these sources are updated in real time and will be different the next time we search for ‘electrons.’

As we scroll down the page, we find other related sources from numerous other social networking sites and informative websites.

mashpedia3

News results regarding our query are also shown.

mashpedia4

The absolute end of the page lets us leave a comment on the article.

Mashpedia presents the results of our query by gathering them in real time from many sources. This unique concept of an online encyclopedia will surely benefit many internet users.

FBlike: An Easy Way To Find What Your Facebook Friends Like and Discover New Trends

People join Facebook with the intention to stay in touch with family and friends, and perhaps meet some new interesting people. But they are soon spending time discovering new online content shared by their friends. Soon they learn to share as well. Later they log in to their accounts simply to entertain themselves by reading whatever is popular and being shared on Facebook.

While that works well for many people, it is not quite perfectly effective. The content we see is only what our contacts are sharing and not what Facebook accountholders are promoting / sharing as a whole. To find out that shared content, users should visit Fblike.

fblike

Fblike is a free to use website that lists the Facebook feeds of many popular sites. Facebook accountholders can view what their friends are sharing on these sites. But you do not need to have a Facebook account to view the content available on Fblike.

The homepage of the site has the most popular Facebook feeds of some of the most popular sites such as YouTube, CNN, ESPN, and IMDb.

fblike1

A categories bar lets us browse the site and posts according to our tastes.

fblike2

To find posts more specific to our tastes, we can use the search box located on top of the site.

fblike3

Buttons in the top right of the website enable us to share Fblike with our friends on Facebook and other social media sites.

Fblike is a great quick way to find humorous, interesting, and latest articles on Facebook which are being shared not only by our Facebook contacts but by the Facebook community as a whole. A site all Facebook users should bookmark, Fblike is a great idea. Click here to visit the site.

KartMe Is A Great Way To Organize And Share Your Favorite Online Content With Other People

We see social media sites popping up everywhere today. Beginning from Orkut, I now have accounts on more online social networks than I can count. The essentials of all social media are the same: stay in touch with your contacts and share interesting stuff you find online. Some social media sites are for content-specific sharing. For instance a forum that allows only health-related discussions or a social media site that promotes video games and is for video game enthusiasts. These sites provide great interfaces for sharing the material they support.

Recently however I have found a social media site that has come up with an intelligent way for users to share a variety of material. I am referring to KartMe.

Kartme

KartMe is a wonderful social media site that lets users sign up for an account and create containers. These containers are called Karts and can store 3 types of things: web addresses, products, and places.

Logged

These Karts are a great way to share our favorite content with other people. The Karts let us create a heading for a number of shares and keep adding material to that heading. Let me give an example. Suppose you want to share with your friends how to bake a chocolate cake. You can create a Kart titled “My Guide on how to Bake a Chocolate Cake;” then add your blog entry’s URL to the Kart followed by the product links of everything used in the cake and the locations of the stores those products can be purchased from. In no time you will have a little library of chocolate-cake guide for everybody to see.

These Karts can be helpful to anyone who is looking for a great product about anything or a great restaurant or location. This is precisely why the homepage of the site has various Karts organized in categories which are easy to browse.

Links

In my opinion KartMe is more than just a social media site – it will soon become your go-to place for anything you want to buy or any place you want to visit.

A New Way To Gather And Organize Your Online Content With Weblist.me

Today I have got a great tool for bloggers and social-media enthusiasts. This tool is Weblist and it can help share online content more conveniently. Normally when we share multiple links related to the same subject we create a list post and type in details about each link. But with Weblist, the entire process changes and becomes easier.

To illustrate how Weblist exactly works, let us suppose I have to make a list related to iTunes. I get the URL of Wikipedia’s iTunes entry and the URL of the download location of iTunes on FileHippo. I paste these URLs in Weblist. If we already have a list of URLs present in a text file, we can copy the addresses from there, click on the “Paste Multiple URLs” button which and paste the addresses in the window that appears. The window will look like this:

weblist1

Then I click on the Image icon and add an icon depicting iTunes. This image will be hosted on Imgur and the URL will be added to our list).

weblist2

Slide Show files and documents files are hosted by CrocoDoc and files of other formats are hosted by RapidShare.

Then I think of a name for my list. I choose “My list on iTunes.” I add a brief description of the list and add some tags.

The almost-final step is to classify my list as a Thumbnail list, a Voting list, or an Open Voting list. I decide to go with Thumbnail list.

Here is what my Weblist homepage looks like after filling out the fields:

weblist3

Finally, I click on the “Create List” button and obtain my list’s address.

weblist4

The short URL can be given out to other people for sharing. We also get a URL which we can visit to later edit our list. This can be very helpful in case of making additions to our list.

I visit the URL for my list and this is what the resultant webpage looks like:

weblist5

Notice that starting from the left, the first thumbnail is of Wikipedia, the second that of FileHippo, and the last of Imgur. In other words, the thumbnails are in the order I typed them in.

Try out Weblist, play around with the Voting types of lists, and use the comments to let us know what you think.

Share Flickr, Picasa, Gmail & Facebook Photos All In One Place With Showzey

As a professional blogger having accounts on multiple social media sites is very beneficial for me. But for average computer users the multiple social media accounts pose a significant management problem; more specifically, photo management.

Our photographs and images are scattered across all our social media accounts. Suppose we want to share one picture from a network A on network B. To do this we normally log in to account A, save the picture, then upload it on account B.

Thankfully with Showzey, that lengthy process no longer needs to be employed.

Showzey is a free website that lets us gather and catalog photos from Gmail, Picasa, Facebook, and Flickr. We can then organize these photos and proceed to share them on Facebook or email them.

The function of the site is best understood by trying it out. Click on the “Get Started” button on Showzey’s homepage:

showzey1

You will be prompted to select the services you wish to use with Showzey.

showzey2

Then you will proceed to connect your respective service accounts with Showzey.

With each account you connect, you will asked for a confirmation from that particular service. In case of Flickr, this is the message you will receive:

showzey3

Simply allow Showzey to access all your accounts. No need to worry about Showzey’s security; the site respects its users’ privacy and the privacy terms can be read here.

Once your accounts have been connected, you will be able to view your Showzey dashboard.

showzey4

This dashboard is where users will truly experience the convenience presented by Showzey. Just like Showzey obtains photos from all our social media accounts, we can upload a photo on Showzey to be uploaded on all our social media accounts – a remarkably time saving feature.

Within Showzey our pictures are shown to all our Showzey friends; similarly we can see the pictures of our Showzey friends no matter what platform they have hosted their photos on.

Showzey is an interesting idea which curious internet users should definitely explore. Try it out and use the comments to let us know what you think.
