If you’re with a company, internal users can be set up for internal messaging only so there’s no communication with outside friends or anything. Great business tool.
We are currently using Citricle Live Support. I prefer it because it doesn’t stress our server at all, it supports https and it’s just $99 a year. Even if this software is free, it still runs on your own server taking up a lot of system resources, electricity, bandwidth, so there are still some costs. If you consider that one SSL certificate (to make the chat secure) is at least $50 a year, you will end up paying more than $99 a year, plus you get no customer support.
